I hear a bunch of rumours like ballerinas stop having a menstruation cycle because they are so skinny. So I was wondering what are some good physical health benefits from being a ballerina and some bad physical health risks from being a ballerina?
Ballerinas face the same health risks as young female athletes when they don’t eat enough to offset the energy they spend, and stop menstruating as a consequence, says a new study.
The study, led by sports medicine researcher Anne Ho ch, D.O., at The Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, has been presented at the American College of Sports Medicine meeting in Seattle.
"These two components of the female athlete tetras put them at higher risk for the other two; the cardiovascular and bone density deficits of much older, postmenopausal women," according to Dr. Ho ch, associate professor of orthopedic surgery and director of the Froedtert and the Medical College Women’s Sports Medicine Center.
The researchers studied 22 professional ballerinas, all members of the Milwaukee Ballet Company, to determine the prevalence of disordered eating, amenorrhea (lack of menstruation), abnormal vascular function and low bone density.
The dancers completed questionnaires on their menstrual patterns and eating habits, and underwent a blood test for hormonal levels. Thirty-six percent of the group had disordered eating habits and 77 percent were in a calorie deficit. Twenty-seven percent were currently amenorrheic, 23 percent had low bone mass density and nine percent were taking birth control.rterial ultrasound measurements revealed that 64 percent had abnormal artery dilation in response to blood flow.
"It was unknown if professional dancers without menstrual periods have evidence of vascular dysfunction, yet some characteristics of the tetrad were common in this group," says Dr. Hoch.
"Eighty-six percent had one or more components, and fourteen percent had all four," the expert added.

I know there are lots of reasons to cut meat out of your diet. The one I personally find the most reasonable is for your health. I have met several people who have become vegetarian or vegan for "health reasons".
So I’m wondering, what are these health benefits? Is meat not healthy? Why does cutting meat from your diet make you a healthier person?
Just because someone says they are vegetarian or vegan doesn’t necessarily mean that they are healthier. It depends on the protein sources they are eating in place of meat. You can do it right, but most people dont, and I have found that veg eat way too much sugar.
Key reasons: benefit to the planet, it takes a lot less resources to grow vegetables for food consumption than it takes to grow cows (also responsible for disappearing rain forests), plus, it doesn’t support factory farming practices which are not only horribly cruel to animals in that they have horrible living conditions, but also, this type of farming is environmentally destructive.
I was veg for about 6 years. Health benefits (if you do it right with nutrition focus), you can find a better pH balance. Most people in our culture are too acidic, meats, dairy, animal products, and even beans and brown rice are all high acidity pathways in metabolizing in the body. Because the body needs to maintain a balance, it draws Calcium from the bones to counter the acid levels of metabolizing these proteins. A main cause for Osteoporosis is this high acidity level (if it were just about getting calcium, US would not have the highest rates of milk consumption and osteoporosis).
America would do better to eat less meat, and more fruits and vegetables. We need only a fraction of the protein we are getting daily.

I am working on a research project for a job applications program with my school and I need to know if and what the health benefits of a career in fashion merchandising are.
Also, I know it sounds ridiculous, but if there are any health and safety issues involved in this occupation. Please, please help me!
The only safety issue I can think of would be falling off of a ladder lol
I currently use margarine, but I have been hearing some bad stuff about it. I am thinking about switching to butter, but would like to know the health benefits between them both. Which one is better for you?
Butter contains Vitamin A, and not all the preservatives and artificial ingredients in margarine. But, butter also contains alot of fat & cholesterol. If you don’t have a problem with that, the taste is much better than margarine. The only benefit to margarine is for people with dietary concerns (and it’s cheaper)

I’ve been drinking green tea regularly for while now, usually i sweeten it with honey.. What are the health benefits of green tea? Someone told me that it has many health benefits, what are they?
I first started drinking Green Tea about 2 years ago after I heard about it from an aunt (with Chinese family how could I not?) and really like the taste now. At first I used to add the water boiling and it would be soo bitter but if you add it a minute after boiling the taste is so fresh and delicate, but I can’t stand it with anything sweet!
Drinking green tea has many health benefits, for one it is full of antioxidants that keep the immune system working well. I hardly ever got sick or had colds before but I am told it should help people boost their immune systems, just as eating a diet rich in vegetables and fruit would add more antioxidants and vitamins into the diet and have notable health benefits.
Believe it or not rubbing green tea bags on your face after dipping in hot (not boiling) water really clears up acne and skin imperfections. Just don’t let your neighbours see you doing it. GAH.
